This was taken on the day of the solar eclipse in 2017. The family had come together at Paradise, in Mount Rainier National Park, to remember a loved one who had passed the winter before, and to take some hikes on our favorite mountain. On one of our hikes this marmot poked his head up above a boulder and posed for us. I snapped a quick photo with my little Canon PowerShot.
